On 01.06.2022 the 3rd regional monitoring committee for the next structural change projects in the Lusatian mining area met. The project application “Expansion of the local public transport services of the city of Hoyerswerda through the use of modern electric buses” of Verkehrsgesellschaft Hoyerswerda mbH (VGH) was positively confirmed.
Among other things, the project reflects the energy turnaround in Lusatia – from fossil fuels to sustainable “green” energy.
The project not only creates and secures jobs at VGH, but also improves mobility in Hoyerswerda as a whole – in the commercial areas with potential jobs and training positions as well as to tourist destinations in the city area. In this way, the project also fulfills goals of climate and transport transformation.
The VGH has taken a large and important step with the decision of 01.06.2022 and is a so-called postponement project. A realization starts only if other already approved projects are abandoned or new money is available again from 2026.
Irrespective of this, the planning and tenders will continue to be driven forward so that things can really get underway immediately when the right starting signal is given.
