WHY! at the 25th International Trade Fair for Property and Investment Munich

The EXPO REAL real estate and investor trade fair took place in Munich from October 4 to 6, 2023. The structural change team led by Christian Hoffmann, Head of Economic Development and Press and Public Relations, was in the Bavarian capital for the second time since 2022 to draw attention to Hoyerswerda at the joint stand of the Free State of Saxony.

“We came to Munich to present Hoyerswerda on an international stage,” says Christian Hoffmann, summarizing his goals. After all, EXPO REAL offers a networking platform for the real estate industry from Europe, the Middle East and the USA. “In addition to the large cities in the Free State such as Dresden and Leipzig, it is important that smaller municipalities also present their potential, arouse investors’ curiosity and build networks and collaborations.”

“Science meets municipality” was the title of the city of Hoyerswerda’s contribution to the forum. In addition to the diverse structural change projects and the large-scale research projects of the DZA and Smart Mobility Labs, the innovation project “NewCityConcepts” was also presented. “It is important that projects in the field of ecological urban development are presented right here in Munich,” says LAUTECH project manager Andreas Kretschmer.

The direct exchange with decision-makers from the Free State is also an added value of the trade fair. For example, the State Secretary for Regional Development, Babara Meyer, took the time to discuss the current status of the structural change process in Hoyerswerda and topics such as youth participation.

The three days of the trade fair were rounded off with recordings for the #WHY! small talk. The individual short conversations provide interesting insights into the trade fair from various participants.
