Municipality of the Year 2022!

The city of Hoyerswerda has been named “Municipality of the Year 2022” in the Free State of Saxony at the Entrepreneur Award of the East German Savings Bank Association (OSV). The Executive OSV President, Ludger Weskamp and Heiko Lachmann, Member of the Board of Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden, presented the award to Mayor Torsten Ruban-Zeh last Thursday. The festive award ceremony took place in the course of the Unternehmer-Konvent 2022 at the Kongresshotel Potsdam.

In the justification it says: The municipality of the year in Saxony wants to improve its image. In the GDR, Hoyerswerda (Bautzen district) was a lignite mining and refining location. After reunification, it had to reorient itself. The city tackled the problems, attracted new businesses and launched projects to integrate new citizens. Hoyerswerda sees itself as a modern urban society that maintains traditions and tackles new things.

In addition to structural change, the nomination and the competition presentation also focused on the image campaign “#WHY! – Change in Hoyerswerda”, with which the jury was made curious and different topics as well as contents could be brought closer in a special way. “We are very happy about this award. It shows that we are on the right track and is the result of the hard work of the many committed actors in Hoyerswerda,” said a delighted Mayor Torsten Ruban-Zeh. “The award gives us tailwind for future tasks and projects.”

A total of 195 candidates had applied. One award winner each from Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt were honored in the categories “Company of the Year,” “Association of the Year” and “Municipality of the Year.” The “Municipality of the Year” competition was open to municipalities that have increased the attractiveness of their location and promoted the settlement of companies through their municipal business development activities.

In addition to positive nationwide coverage, including in SuperIllu, the prize also includes a professional image film produced for Hoyerswerda:
