11 structural change projects approved

At its 6th meeting on 15 November, the Regional Monitoring Committee (RBA) had to decide on a total of twelve municipal projects. The committee met in Cunewalde and dealt with projects in the areas of public services, business-related infrastructure and tourism. Eleven projects were approved.

“Three projects relating to the drinking water network, which the monitoring committee had to decide on, were central to today’s decision. This underlines the importance of these fundamental infrastructure measures as part of the structural development of Lusatia,” explains Dr Romy Reinisch, Chairwoman of the RBA, adding “…The issue of water has been with us in Lusatia for some time now. With the projects voted in favour today, we are giving a decisive boost to an essential development aspiration of our region with foresight. I see this as a great success in overcoming the very complex challenges facing our region.”

Overall, the committee voted in favour of eleven of the twelve projects, while one project was rejected for post-qualification. The total volume of the eleven approved projects amounts to 63.7 million euros (federal funding). Dr Reinisch: “The quality of all project proposals was very high, regardless of which of our development priorities they were ultimately aimed at. After all, the development of Lusatia in the heart of Europe into an attractive and sustainable region is the goal of us all. Away from lignite and towards modern and forward-looking structures. This requires all these good municipal contributions.”
