From being the city with the most children in the GDR in the seventies with around 72,000 inhabitants, Hoyerswerda’s population has shrunk to currently around 31,000. Besides the urban development challenges, this development has also brought with it an exciting phenomenon… one could even say a positive unique selling point:
Thanks to the existing infrastructure, probably no other city of this size has a more diverse range of residential, recreational, health and local recreation offerings.
