On May 2, 1957, the first concrete slab was laid in Hoyerswerda. In the construction of the former Ernst-Schneller-Strasse 9 – 13 (today’s Konrad-Zuse-Strasse 9 – 13) in residential complex number one (WK I), the slab produced in the Zeißig concrete plant was used. It is thus considered the first prefabricated building from industrial production in the Neustadt. The production and assembly of concrete slabs were not only faster but also cheaper. The prefabricated construction method still characterizes the cityscape today.
The “Center for Building and Living” picks this theme up once again, as a system building. With the structural change in Lusatia, a modern technical center is being created for the research network in the construction industry. A network of partners has formed around the Lusatian Technology Center (LAUTECH). This network brings the necessary portfolio and specific know-how to develop industrially manufactured construction elements “MADE IN LAUSITZ” with the latest technology.
The bundling of entrepreneurial and scientific expertise in the BauRaumWerk® creates solutions for the digitalization backlog in the construction industry in combination with industrial, modular manufacturing. This simultaneously counteracts the worsening shortage of skilled workers in the industry. The decarbonization of the building sector is being pursued through the use of sustainable resources. With a clearly defined one-fits-all approach, spatial solutions can be adapted in terms of area and volume through a modular space concept.
