On 14 December, a EuroCity train officially stopped at Hoyerswerda railway station for the first time. As a result, the city is now directly connected to an international long-distance rail service. Hoyerswerda is located on the new route between Leipzig, Wrocław and Kraków, with selected services continuing as far as Przemyśl, near the Polish–Ukrainian border.
For the city, this first stop is more than just a new line in the timetable. It represents improved accessibility and a stronger opening towards Eastern Europe. Destinations in southern Poland can now be reached without changing trains. Travel becomes simpler, more predictable and more attractive, whether for private trips, business appointments or visits to European cities.
The new EuroCity connection also changes the role of Hoyerswerda railway station. It is no longer just a starting point or destination for regional travel, but now forms part of an international route. This makes Hoyerswerda more visible within the national and international rail network and strengthens its importance as a well-connected location.
The first official EuroCity stop clearly shows that things are moving forward. New connections do not emerge by chance; they are the result of long-term development and investment in infrastructure. For Hoyerswerda, 14 December therefore marks a tangible sign of transformation—one that is no longer just planned, but has arrived, becoming visible and experienceable.
