In early January 2025, Annette Rothenberger-Temme, Head of Department at the Saxon State Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development (SMIL), visited the city of Hoyerswerda as part of her tour of Saxony. The main focus of her visit was a tour of current and planned projects supported by ERDF and ESF funding.

She visited the renovation plans for the Jahnstadion, which is to be remodelled as a modern football and athletics stadium, and the energy refurbishment of the VBH Arena. Both projects are being supported by ERDF funds.

At the Zuse Computer Museum (ZCOM), she met the organisers of the GIHK projects, which are supported by the European Social Fund (ESF). These initiatives promote equal opportunities and social participation in disadvantaged urban areas.

In a festive setting, Rothenberger-Temme presented funding decisions to:

  • City of Hoyerswerda: ESF+ framework decision increase to 1,391,141 euros.
  • Kulturfabrik Hoyerswerda e.V.: Funding for ‘HY l(i)ebt (Un)bekanntes’.
  • RAA Hoyerswerda/Ostsachsen e.V.: Support for GIHK coordination.
